Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Agriculture Minister Kamal Patel said the MP government would double farmers’ incomes through organic farming. The government will also increase the registered organic farmers from one lakh to two lakh soon and double exports by Rs 2500cr to improve the incomes of farmers in the state, the minister added.
Opening the Organic and Ayurvedic Aahar Summit organized by the Confederation of Organic Food Producers and Marketing Agencies (COII), Agriculture Minister Kamal Patel said on Thursday.
He said that MP has already reached the top position in the country and is passing on the benefits of monitoring to farmers. He also said the state is working hard to develop MP organic brands and will popularize them in countries that consume the most organic products. He advised COII to be the development partner of the state.
NABARD Managing Director Nidhi Sharma said the apex bank would soon embark on the state one district one product scheme to ensure sufficient quantity to be viable. NABARD will provide assistance in promoting the program.
COII Chairman Dr. DS Rawat said the confederation and its knowledge partner Bill Mart Fintech will adopt two districts in the state to provide a handhold in one district to build agribusinesses and in another district MSMEs. He said once one of these districts becomes a successful pilot project, with the support of the state government, it will be implemented statewide. APEDA Regional Director Ashok Kumar Bora said his organization has launched many innovative initiatives for export promotion. Domestically, organic products do not fetch a good price. The biggest problem is the non-availability of quantity and quality and hence highlighted the need for contract farming.
SIDBI AGM, Anand Kishore Yadav announced that the bank has decided to promote various programs to ensure sustainable development and livelihoods. He called on farmers to come forward to take advantage of their programs and secure customs clearance within 15 days.
