Dir Agri calls on farmers to reap the benefits of organic farming

Srinagar, April 15: Kashmir Director of Agriculture, Chowdhary Mohammed Iqbal today visited Zisbal Laam and Hajinnar area of Tral in Pulwama district and inaugurated awareness programs in the respective villages.
Speaking on this occasion, the Director reiterated the department’s commitment to provide all possible support to the farmer with regard to technical supervision and better marketing facilities. He highlighted the economic importance of growing organic vegetables to the region and soaking up the latest agricultural interventions, better marketing facilities that could boost the agricultural economy of the region.
Chowdhary urged farmers to diversify their operations. He stressed the importance of introducing high-yielding exotic vegetables to their fields.
The Director instructed the relevant officers/civil servants to ensure that the latest technical interventions with climate related advisories regularly reach the farmers so that the farmers organize their field activities accordingly.
He also asked the officers to bridge the gap between the laboratory and the land, which is our first duty to restore the glory of agricultural activities and farmers will be familiar with the latest trends and techniques in the agricultural sector.
Also, the director announced that Zisbal Laam and Hajinnar villages will be adopted as organic clusters. He also distributed paddy threshers in the region.
The director was accompanied by the director of agriculture, Pulwama and other senior officials of the department.
