HYDERABAD: Sindh University of Agriculture, Vice Chancellor of Tandojam Dr. Fateh Marri said organic farming is the most valuable thing in Thar after charcoal, he said promotion of arid agriculture in the Thar will lead to modern sustainable agriculture as well as sustainable prosperity. vegetables, fruits, medicinal plants and cosmetic plants in Thar has a large market in national and international cities.

He said this during a speech at the inauguration ceremony of the “High Yield Irrigation System Demonstration Field” at Umerkot Sub-campus of Sindh Agricultural University.

Dr. Fateh Marri said that despite the passage of more than 10 years, no major agricultural development has occurred. He said that 50% of the land area of ​​Sindh is covered by desert, mountains and arid lands, so the practice of arid agriculture should be started in different regions including Thar, Karoonjhar, Kachho, Kohistan, Achhro Thar and Naro.

He said the young people of Thar are talented; they will benefit from institutions of higher education, while cattle breeding can be restored in different regions including Naokot, Umerkot, and opportunities can be created for silent capital investment from Karachi investors.

Dr. Jan Muhammad Marri, Pro Vice Chancellor, SAU Sub Campus Umerkot, said that the academic process will be launched in the university’s new sub-campus within two months, during which new degree programs have been launched. also launched for students. Thus, the University sets up travel facilities for students from various regions including Umerkot, Samaro, Kunri, Dhoro Naro and Bachao Band.

He said Sindh government, civil society and caring people should come forward to start the work of immediate rehabilitation of agriculture in Thar through hydroponics, drip irrigation and technology. modern, in this context, the university will provide the services through its experts.

Dr Marri said that there is a need to promote tourism in Thar, and that Thar should be made green, as well as infrastructure should be improved and that prosperity will come to Thar through tourism and opportunities for jobs will be created.
