Srinagar: The Department of Agricultural Production and Farmer Welfare celebrated World Food Day, during which various events were organized by the Department in all districts of Kashmir Division. The Principal Secretary of the Department of Agricultural Production and Farmer Welfare, Navin Kumar Chaudhary, stressed the importance of the day. In his post, he said World Food Day is celebrated annually on October 16 to promote global awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger. He said that organic food, free from pesticides, processing or additives, is essential for all and that it promises not only good health, but also a better future for a sustainable planet. Navin Kumar Chaudhary said the main goal is to fight world hunger and strive to eradicate world hunger. He said about 821 million people around the world are chronically undernourished, 99% of whom live in developing countries. The main goal is to fight world hunger, nutrition in shopping malls, hegemonic and nutritious food as the basic necessities for all humans, he said and added. Mr. Chaudhary said that on this World Food Day we should respect food and food development and finally support food related businesses and retailers.
In light of World Food Day, a training program was organized by the Department of Tahab Pulwama. Speaking on this occasion, Kashmiri Agriculture Director Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal said that to celebrate World Food Day on a large scale, the Ministry of Agriculture as part of the “National Mission on Edible Oils Has already launched a massive campaign to double the area cultivated with oilseeds (Mustard) in the valley. The Director of Agriculture said that in honor of our farming community, the Department has organized various events in all districts of the valley to celebrate World Food Day. He said today’s event in Tahab focuses on agricultural mechanization. We provide farmers with different types of agricultural machinery so that, on the one hand, their labor expenditure can be scientifically minimized. The Director of Agriculture said that we are celebrating World Food Day by raising awareness of the latest interventions and technologies in agriculture to improve food production and fight hunger.
Chief Agriculture Officer Pulwama GMDhobi, District Agriculture Officers Pulwama Shahnawaz Shah, Mohammad Munaf Bhat and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
